BS Rollen supports the "No degree without a follow-up" campaign

They planned, screwed and in the end were delighted with the kickboards they had built themselves: the pupils at the BZI Kompetenzcampus Technik und Wirtschaft Bergisches Land were able to become designers themselves as part of the technical career orientation programme. This was made possible by a donation from BS-Rollen. Our Managing Director Jörg Pötschko personally handed over a total of 352 quality castors.

Insights into metalworking professions

"We are very pleased to make a contribution to giving young people from our region a first insight into metalworking professions," emphasises Pötschko. This also applies to the dedicated pupils on the technology course at the Albert-Schweitzer-Realschule, who worked on their boards with great enthusiasm. This practical course was organised as part of the "Kein Abschluss ohne Anschluss" project, which is supported by the NRW state government, the NRW regional directorate and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Counteracting the shortage of skilled labour

For Pötschko, initiatives such as kickboard construction are essential measures to counteract the shortage of young talent in the metal sector. "This problem affects us all, including our company," he explains. Although BS-Rollen offers a wide range of training programmes in commercial and industrial professions, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find suitable applicants. "There is simply a lack of applications," adds Pötschko. It is therefore all the more positive that the secondary school pupils gained valuable experience during their project week at the BZI and may decide to pursue a career in metal technology.
