Swivel castors with directional locking
Swivel castors with directional lock - load-dependent and flexible
If you need a safe guidance in the straight run of castors and they should not rotate involuntarily when lifting and storing transport goods, then directional locking devices are the optimal solution. With their help, the unintentional rotation of castors is stopped.
Depending on the principle of the directional locking device, the castor is either fixed in the sense of a long-term steering lock, which simplifies manoeuvring, or it is blocked for a short time and can be quickly revised. This makes it easier to stack or store the goods to be transported.
Your individual directional locking solution
We offer a wide range of directional locking solutions - depending on your specific requirements. Contact us, our castor specialists will be happy to advise you by telephone on +49 2191 59217-0 or by email to info@bs-rollen.de.
Different principles of directional locking
Swivel castors can be locked in various ways. All directional locks have one thing in common: they fix the castors in a predefined position to ensure safe straight running and to prevent unwanted rotation of the castor. Various types of steering locks or load-dependent directional locks can be used for directional locking. The latter secure the castor simply and comfortably with only a short lift.
Straight running as desired with steering locks or directional locks
Directional locks or steering locks are the ideal supplement for roller, grid or other storage boxes, for example when changing from the forklift to the manual method. Directional stops or steering locks are also suitable for use in the furniture or tyre industry. They are used in various departments - from storage to delivery.
The directional locks are screwed to the roller, which can be fixed with a foot operation of the lever. Alternatively, the directional locks can be mounted on the transport equipment so that the castor is fixed in the direction of travel when actuated. This is done by activating a pin with a bayonet lock. With this blocking, swivel castors with overrun plate become fixed castors that impress with good tracking behaviour and smooth running of the goods to be transported.
Swivel castors with load-dependent directional lock - pure comfort
Load-dependent directional locking stops the uncontrolled turning of wheels when the goods to be transported are lifted. As soon as the container with castors is briefly unloaded or lifted, the load-dependent direction lock jumps into the predefined starting position. This prevents uncontrolled swivelling of the castor or the housing.
Easy stopping of the wheel rotation
With a small lift, the castors can be moved from any position in a 360° radius to a pre-fixed base position. This makes transport goods easier to handle. Rollers swinging back and forth in an uncontrolled manner are a thing of the past.
Load-dependent directional brakes make transport containers easy to stack
With fixed castors, transport containers, crates or the typical cases in the music and event industry can be easily stacked or stored on shelves. They can simply be inserted into shelf rails or anchor themselves in the recesses provided for the containers underneath when stacked. This means: No more uncontrolled turning when stacking thanks to load-dependent directional locks.
Swivel castor containers: easy straight travel with directional locks
The combination of two swivel castors and two swivel castors with load-dependent directional locks makes any transport variable. The directional locks guide the container into a pleasant directional stability and thus ensure the desired straight running.
Various wheels for swivel castors with load-dependent directional locking device
Swivel castors with load-dependent direction lock consist of a sheet steel fork, galvanised-chromated and with a double-row ball and cage assembly in the fork head. They are available as swivel castors and also as swivel castors with total locking device in a wide variety of wheel configurations: from simple plastic wheels to plastic wheels with tread made of elastic rubber, thermoplastic rubber (TPE) to aluminium wheel bodies with tread made of elastic rubber or Prothane® as well as with roller or ball bearings.
The load capacity of the swivel castors with load-dependent directional locking ranges from 110 - 200 kg per castor.
